Introduction to Beijing-Hyundai

Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Hyundai"), founded in October 16 , 2002, is the first Sino-foreign joint venture project in the automobile production industry approved after China's accession to the WTO. As a leading and showcase project for the revitalization of Beijing modern manufacturing industry and the development of the city's economy, Beijing Hyundai was established by Beijing Automobile Investment Co., Ltd. and South Korean Hyundai Motor Company through joint contribution. Its registered capital is $1.22 billion, and the total investment amounts to $3.10 billion. With regards to the investment percentages, the Chinese and the South Korean counterparts account for 50% each. The term of the joint venture is 30 years.

Beijing Hyundai is located in Shunyi District, Beijing. Beijing Hyundai, established over 12 years ago, already has three complete vehicle production plants, three engine production plants, one domestic first-class technical center, and a network consisting of more than 900 dealers and service providers spreading all over the country. It now has nearly 15,000 employees, and its annual production and sales are more than 1.06 million vehicles. Among the most popular models are All-New Santafe, ix35, ix25, 8th generation Sonata, Mistra, Elantra-Langdong, Elantra-Yuedong, Elantra and Verna, etc.

The cumulative sales of Beijing Hyundai have already exceeded 6 million vehicles, retaining the first position in the Chinese passenger car market. Meanwhile, Beijing Hyundai has made outstanding contributions for promoting the development of economic and trade relations between China and South Korea, and it has become an exemplary model of cooperation within a foreign joint venture for the Chinese automotive enterprises.
